Do not buy - design flaws and misleading marketing!

The temperature on the thermometer does not match the temperature in the tank. I understand it can be a few degrees off, but my tank is consistently about 10 degrees off the thermostat. I have contacted OASE support multiple times and they told me that while the Biomaster 350 Thermo is rated for a 90 gallon tank, the heater in it is only rated for 55 gallons. Their solution was to provide a separate heater which completely defeats the purpose of this canister. They said to use the Biomaster 600

Inaccurate temperature and constant outgassing

I liked this filter at first, but over time it didn't get that good. It's easy to clean and quiet. Priming is a little annoying as the pump tends to stick, but it's no big deal. What's frustrating is that it's been making a sound of exhaust fumes every few minutes lately. I took it apart and cleaned everything thoroughly which helped for a few days and then it was back. Not the end of the world because it's not that loud, but I'm wondering if something more serious is going on. The biggest…

Pros
  • High marks for support and durability from testers
Cons

Excellent reliable filter and heater

I bought this to replace a Rena Filstar XP2 that was constantly leaking and it got to the point where I couldn't trust that anymore, especially when I was away for a few days. This prompted me to look for a new filter. I came across Oase Biomasters via a couple of youtube videos and they seemed pretty popular in Europe but new to the US. I chose this filter because the pre-filter and the heater in the filter are easy to clean. Removing the heater from the tank cleans up the back of the tank…

Pros
  • Best in its niche
Cons
  • I have no particular complaints about it everything is fine

Great filter filter

I have this filter in my 65 gallon fresh water tank. It replaced the Fluval G6 filter I had for about a year. I never managed to get this filter to work 100%. I have this filter running through the radiator. The radiator is on the opposite side of the tank and I still get a strong return to the tank. Set up was very easy as I used the hoses and all the fittings from the G6 and just changed the filter. I use styrofoam on the bottom tray, the next four trays have knots and the top tray has…

Clear Water - Aquarium Pumps & Filters

I've never been able to get water completely clear with other filters. About two hours after plugging this filter in, my water became CRYSTAL clear, I'll say it looks like a fish swimming in the air, clear. I'm actually a bit amazed. Just ordered another one for my other aquarium and will probably get the smallest one for my nano. A few tips, watch the video on YouTube to set it up. I didn't really use the instructions (I'm a visual person) but I saw in other reviews people said it was rubbish…

It might just be the perfect canister

I took a chance as there weren't many reviews or videos online. I use this in a mixed reef aquarium and it may very well be the perfect canister for this situation. Quiet first! When I first turned it on there was a slight trickle of water that completely disappeared after a few hours. I suspect he blew out some air pockets at this point. But now it's very still - no rumbling, no rushing water, nothing. The only way to know if it's working is to look at the return line and see the water flowing

Pros
  • Sturdy construction
Cons
  • No automatic

The best external filter!

I LOVE IT! I've been using two of these Thermo 250's on my 55 gallon freshwater for over 3 weeks. The Thermo 250 costs a little more than most external filters, but has 2 great features that justify the extra price. 1: It comes with a built-in heater, which is great as there is less debris in your aquarium. 2: It has an inlet pre-filter that can be pulled out and cleaned separately, so you don't always have to clean the entire tank and the good bacteria can grow in the main filter bowls. 3: It…
