I LOVE IT! I've been using two of these Thermo 250's on my 55 gallon freshwater for over 3 weeks. The Thermo 250 costs a little more than most external filters, but has 2 great features that justify the extra price. 1: It comes with a built-in heater, which is great as there is less debris in your aquarium. 2: It has an inlet pre-filter that can be pulled out and cleaned separately, so you don't always have to clean the entire tank and the good bacteria can grow in the main filter bowls. 3: It comes with 4 trays to add media. 4: It's super quiet, my air pump is 60 gallons louder than my two 250Ts combined and the air pump is really quiet. During the first month of operation I did not have to do any maintenance and the water flow in my aquarium with many fish and plants is still very strong. I have to be honest though; I only use the included coarse round intake filters because I've upgraded pretty much everything else. I also added a Jardli glass water inlet and glass drain to give it a less cluttered look. That's because I've done some serious research online and good old YouTube. After a long search for all kinds of aquarium filters, e.g. Hanging on my back, canister, sponge, under gravel and soup, I came across this Thermo 250 canister from Oase. Now almost all if not all of the YouTube videos were from an English speaking country. Then I saw this random video called "pimpmyfilter". I clicked on it and a Brit named 'Pondguru' showed me how to make the Thermo 600 more efficient. After watching this video I was completely mesmerized by his way of making the Thermo Canister filter more efficient. But I didn't drill because there is no need, the water flow is still very strong. However, I cannot give an honest opinion on how good the supplied filter material is, e.g. B. medium to fine pads and ceramic balls. Since I bled both of my Thermo 250s from the start, I use the original black thin pre-filter pads because they do the best job of trapping dirt and keeping it away from the main filter. No matter what kind of filter you get, be it a specific model or brand, I highly recommend you go to YouTube and type in "pimpmy(filter name here)filter" i.e. pimpmyoasermofilter, pimpmyfluvalfilter, pimpmywhateverfilter. I promise this will be the most rewarding thing you will ever do when it comes to finding an aquarium filter. Nobody I've seen on the internet is doing anything remotely similar to what this guy is doing with aquarium fliers. He didn't pay me or ask me to promote his channel. He will probably never know that I support his work. I just make him crazy props because he deserves it. Watch and watch and I bet you will come back and look for this review to say it really helped you.
