USB-C Power Flicker

I bought this specifically for the 45W USB-C component on my Macbook Pro as it was one of the few that supported that power level and had a decent profile to it to mount under my desk. I quickly noticed the power flickering as I constantly heard my laptop charging noise pinging. It gets annoying overnight, so I had to switch back to a regular MacBook charger, making it worthless to spend extra money on that particular extension cord. ****Update****After I posted this review, I was sent a replacement unit. . The same problem occurs with intermittent power supply, so either I have two bad devices or the direct USB-C port isn't delivering enough power.
