This is the perfect little habitat for caterpillars to set up tents and build their cocoons, and for your little naturalists to spot butterflies, other insects or reptiles. This will help them keep a respectful distance from their passing pets. I buy them for my grandchildren every summer so they can watch the monarch caterpillars I collect turn into butterflies and then release them into the wild. This is a very educational project. and should last for several months if handled with care. Ours last about a year and then need to be replaced.
