Color changes randomly but not with temperature. It's made of plastic but easy to install. Not sure I'll leave this attached as the spray is pretty strong for my sink which like most sinks is pretty shallow and creates too much splash wetting everything around the sink and wall when it does is switched on. If we remember to turn it on slow and low it's not a splash problem BUT when used as low as I like to let the water flow the light doesn't come on at all. Let's see if we can accommodate the higher pressure as the aerator we had previously had low flow/energy saving which is a big difference. It's dripping a bit in my faucet so I have to remove it and tape it up. Haven't noticed any leaks yet. Plumbing tape is NOT included so you will need to purchase one. I wanted this because I figured that if my son thought it was "fun," he would turn on the water and wash his hands more often than he does. I don't want to talk about him all day so I try to encourage him instead. He liked it, but I can say that this is not my answer to the need to wash his hands more often at his age. I think if the faucet spewed out bubbles and colored foam to play with while talking to it, this still wouldn't have happened to my son. Although I can't give up. I'm leaving it plugged in for now, mainly because I'm curious how long the LED lights will blink and run, how long the item will last. I will update if it has cracks, leaks or breaks. I can decide against it before it happens because of the pressure. I will update anyway.
