Pros: Our kids like that the tunnels shine through. This set contains a large selection of special items. After a COMPLETE assembly, the pieces will remain together as long as they are balanced (either supported by the base piece or have sufficient counterbalance elsewhere in the marble walkway). You can smoothly move the entire marble walkway to a new location without taking it apart. I held it at the two hardest points to move it. The pieces fall apart when knocked over Godzilla-style, but the set is mostly solid when the pieces fit right into place. The set is compatible with Bumper Balls (a game that features Bumper Balls), but do not use Bumper Balls in a Ball Run. I don't think this set needs additional sets unless you need various special items, but it is quite rich with many special items. As my little ones get older I may need extra twisty or curvy ramps (one of each style is included) but they love a change. There are duplicates (2-3 each) of the spinning wheel styles (3 spinning wheel styles) and 2 funnel style items. Cons: Instructions are only in the form of pictures and multiple items are added at once. Sometimes a step adds 10 or more new parts and does not specify which parts in the next picture are the new parts to add. Starter kits consist of 3-4 images and contain most of 150 pieces. I originally started using each color of the spacer tubes when I first started following the instructions, but I quickly realized that if you were going to match it per the instructions, it had to be an exact color match. Also, the instructions start at the top and go down. It's totally useless because the pieces can't stand on their own without the base pieces and when I put the top pieces to the side they fell off. It took me over an hour to assemble the kit with instructions and then I threw away the instructions.
