The black mask has NO side vents and LESS front vents than the older model. The old thermal lens model is MUCH BETTER than this mask. I bought this mask and am using it as replacement parts for my old mask (extra lenses, straps, plastic buckles, etc.). If you only use as parts, good buy. Foam: Hard but thick. I don't like too soft foam like Eflex. After a lot of sweat, the foam on this mask stays put! Face shield: part of the lateral jaw is open Field of vision: no worse than any other. However, the bow area covers all masks so that they are easier to see. Air Vents: Terrible on the new model, great on the old model (pictured). Get your hands on the old model with side vents and upgraded lens and you've got an amazing mask that keeps leaking and ticking.
