Quality versus price or is it really worth the effort?

Quality beats the price. I just buy two sets and fire up my car with them. $65 total for all supplies (connectors, 18aug x 100ft wire, electrical tape, switches and eight blocks of 40 amp relays. I had my own solder and soldering iron)! I highly recommend soldering the connections as I loosened them even after crimping and wrapping the terminals. SYSTEM FEATURES: 16 LEDs connected in parallel. 1.31A 12.4V 16.24W = about 1W per LED. INSTALLED 07/25/2016. I have a lead foot and am not very good with my cars so it's nice to see the headlights are holding up. I can't tell if they flicker or not when filling a local pothole, but the driver's side LEDs are lit even when going over bumps. β€’ Inexpensive. In my opinion these SMD LEDs are very affordable. I bought two (yes, only 2) 4" SMD LEDs for $12 6 years ago. They didn't blow mine either, but they cost a lot more each. They were a bit brighter from what I remember , but not 12. Such strips provide wide coverage of the road surface and that was exactly the application I was looking for with this purchase β€’ Low amperage, high efficiency at only 1 watt per LED I was concerned about battery drain. I have 16 lamps connected in parallel via a 40A relay through a 3A fuse.I sometimes leave the light on for about 2 hours when I'm in a shop or restaurant. My multimeter shows a current draw of 1.31 A at 12.4 volts. That means 16 bulbs equals a total of 16.2 watts!I can only assume these bulbs are rated for 1 watt continuous (for those who wanted to know) based on what I've done Measurements installed under the doorknob On my Sa turn SL2 1996. There was a water hole so I sealed them with rubber glue and then finished them off with heat shrink tubing. It is necessary? I don't think it's because the two I replaced on the front right of my car were unsealed and had no issues with heat, moisture, oil, bumps or being dropped from the car. β€’ The wires have a very small 22-. August 24, this requires special sizes of connectors that are not available in a regular electronics store. I found that I had to solder a quarter of my old connections to keep the LED wires from vibrating from the disconnect crimp at the terminals. I used ball quick connectors for 16-22aug wire. β€’ Backing adhesive requires perfect surface preparation. BUT, if you clean the surface well, it will stick to it. There appears to be acid-based glue on the double-sided tape. These types of adhesion promoters will adhere to most painted surfaces and will also create a stronger bond over time, but can damage the paint (the paint may come loose with the tape when you remove the unit. It stuck well to the enamel surface underneath the rocker panels GENERAL, quality, price and performance is what I was looking for I have wrapped my lights around my pillars (3" diameter tube) and have not had any issues with flickering due to the flexing of the light strips, I have the LEDs in front of mine Heatsink installed and I had no heat issues and installed it under the front bumper and safely hit a 6" curb but the stubborn things are still on. Please note I have taken great care to ensure my product is installed correctly because i hate doing things twice i bought 8 more to have a backup in case they ever go the led on de later r Replace the light bar with a different model (manufacturers consumers switch LED suppliers for one reason or another). That means I spent extra. $10 to keep a few on standby for insurance in case one of them breaks down. And to be honest, given the price, I didn't expect them to be of the highest standards. So far so good, after winter I will update to see how they perform in harsh temperature and weather conditions. I'm from the state of Illinois.

Pros
  • Number of LEDs: 15 LEDs
Cons
  • Out of fashion
