first, I am a beginner and I recommend it to other beginners. I've had this set for several months now. Before that I used pipes and halves from a family member. I had to get used to the higher pigmentation and brightness. They dried darker than I expected from my other art supplies. (This was user error, but I thought I'd mention this to other people just starting out with the kit.) I sampled the paint very thickly at first, and then sampled wet-on-wet to at least hint at the gradient and textures. Many people have mentioned problems opening the case. here it is printed white on white. It's a little above the indentation that you think you should click on. Then it opens very gently. It took me a few tries to wrestle with it before I took a closer look. Inside is a wrapped pigment. it's like a birthday to open them all. As you can see in the picture above, (in the case of the raw umber) the color initially comes off the pan. Dampen the bottom of the paint, place it in the tray and it will stay in place after drying. I had to cut it out because of the picture. There are cradles for four pans. If you remove the grate, you can take out individual pans very easily. You can remove them without lifting the stand, but that's a lot more difficult. (Yes, I learned that the hard way too) To remove the carrycot, push on the side. it has a ledge that is slightly higher than the tray. The stand is not strong, and then it is very easy to remove the pan. Not all pans have inscriptions, but most do. I don't know if my green juice is empty due to a typo or if it is. You can't easily tell the name of the color once it's all put together, but you'll quickly learn which ones you use the most, and making your own color chart is a great way to definitely recognize them. Yes, I would recommend this set to a friend who wants to try watercolors. This is a great combination of base colors. I've been looking for a long time for a set that would give me yellow ocher, raw umber, burnt sienna, burnt umber, sap green, hooker green and payne gray in one set along with a good trio of primary colors. My only concern is the set. myself were solved by fiddling with them until I figured out how best to use the trays, sets and pots. My boss is now complaining: I don't see a way to order two cradles for an empty seat without buying another set and that individual pan halves are terribly expensive compared to sets. (and yes I'm looking at the same class of students) Good luck with your drawing. I hope this review has helped
