Review on 🔋 Solar Controller for Battery Tender - 5-45W Automatic by Keith Montague

I just installed this a few days ago and it works great when connected to my Renogy 30w solar panel. I spoke to Deltran's excellent customer service department and found the following: - The solar controller has a blocking diode to prevent reverse current from the battery to the panel at night or when the panel is not producing enough voltage due to a cloud. Cover etc. - The output side of the solar controller can be disconnected to the battery without having to disconnect the input side to the solar panel. The voltage supplied by the solar panel to the solar controller will not damage the controller. Be sure to use a 5W to 45W solar panel as indicated in the solar controller specifications, which are also printed on the solar controller itself. - (4) No. 6 screw terminals must not be removed. I wanted to use ring terminals instead of spade terminals as spade terminals tend to expand. Before calling Deltran I attempted to remove the screws which met with resistance after almost complete removal so I stopped and spoke to Deltran. I will try to use heavier lugs if needed. At the moment, a small deviation is not a problem because everything is still. Two suggestions: 1) It would be nice if Deltran made the screws removable. I'm guessing they didn't make them removable so they can't be lost, or maybe the goal is to make the device more moisture resistant where the screws go into the controller. Although I'm not sure. 2) Why didn't Deltran waterproof or waterproof their Battery Tender solar controller? Finally, this solar controller is designed to be used with a solar panel that will obviously be used outdoors in a raining or snowing environment. It's hard to believe this was an accident. This topic should have been discussed at one of those R&D meetings. Maybe they will come with a waterproof version in the future. I gave this solar controller 5 stars because it works well. I will definitely post any updates. I have a 1.25A Tender Plus battery and 800mAh waterproof Battery Tender charger that have worked flawlessly for years and I expect the Battery Tender solar controller to work flawlessly as well.
