New in Kitchen & Dining Spiral Product

I've spent quite a bit of time - hours actually - thinking about what I need from a spiralizer. The plug-in device was tempting, but I didn't want it to take up space and require assembly and disassembly. The KitchenAid accessory was molded (Tee-Hee), but unless you're cooking for 40 people it felt a bit over the top. This device meets all requirements. It's compact, dishwasher safe and delightfully easy to use. I expected it to be made in Germany; If I had known it was an import from China I would have missed it. But the spiral cutter is patented and looks solid and well thought out down to the last detail. The spirals had the same shape and thickness. So I feel like it's worth 17 or so dollars. A few tips: - I can't stress this enough: Cut the veggies every 8-12 inches when those gorgeous strands appear. You'll escape the world of unintentional comedy where, while expecting a spaghetti-like collaboration, when you twist a fork you end up with a lump the size of an eagle's nest instead. It may all be delicious, and the chorus of weight watchers might be serenading you and your low-calorie meal, but really: for all your excitement, remember to eat less. - Straighten the vegetables on the bottom of the device. and turn by hand, ie do not start with finger protection. Your hand is more efficient. You will notice a blade on the side of the device. Don't think that you have to tip the veggies on every spin to get through that blade. Just push DIRECTLY down and the device's design will take care of the rest. Only use the finger guards when you don't have enough veggies to grab, and be aware that the handles will damage the top of the veggies, making it harder to grab be able. turn. This happened to my carrot and zucchini. Not so hot what's up.
