Review on Racor PLB-2R Garage Wall Mount Bike Rack Stand by Christine Brown

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Good solid mount for the money.

Good value for money. Pretty strong and durable. Assembly: A little awkward, but one person can handle it. The holes don't line up exactly, especially on an oval base that requires little torque. This is where another person and some lube comes in handy. The alignment pads are too small for the holes and will fall out. The instructions could be better, but putting everything together isn't advanced math, so it's not that important. In general, the assembly is quite feasible. Stability: I was surprised at how stable it is. I figured with 2 older mountain bikes and 2 older road bikes it would be too heavy and "skewed" and planned to put some sandbags around the base to compensate. It's not necessary yet, but this type of base weighting is a good option. I installed it in my garage and used small rubber door stops for alignment and stability. Door stops keep it in place. Usage: It takes a bit of trial and error to set up the racks to be optimally oriented for your individual bikes so they don't touch the ground and the top one doesn't rest on the one below. This is especially true if you have different types of bikes: road and mountain bike, men, women, kids. It would be easier if the rack was 2-4 inches higher, but you can make it work. Hangers are adjustable. Overall I am happy with this freestanding 4 bike bike rack. It's pretty cheap, around $90, and pretty solidly built.
