I got the 12L and think it's perfect - when I bought it it was 59.99. I chose the smaller one knowing it would be easier to store when not in use and hoping it would be big enough. When I first got my Anova cooker I figured I would just use the large chili/stock pot I already had, so I made a spare lid and it worked. The big pot was a pain because it was too tall and held too much water. I've read that others have complained about the stand of this container and how strong the sides are. My shelf has small clear plastic legs on the ends and fits very securely in the container and I can't bend the sides enough for the shelf to fall out. Perhaps the 12-liter is stiffer than the 16-liter because it's smaller. In the photo, I have 5 steaks, each 1.5+ pounds, in a slow cooker. That's almost 8 pounds of Ribeye and Stripes. Everything I've tried to put up to now has worked. I checked the temperature of the counter under the stove while in use and it stays 15-20 degrees cooler than a water bath. This thing is expensive, but compared to some other setups, it's probably worth the price.
