This is definitely the best toy to play with when someone else can play with the baby. But the kids love it! The pieces are big enough not to choke on and there are many things you can teach a child by using it. You could teach them how to put pieces on pins, teach them colors, and finally teach them how to count. The problem with this toy is that parts can easily get lost, especially if children are allowed to play with it alone. We scheduled a cleaning 3 times a day to 'reboot' our house and every time I flip one of these pieces it's missing and I spend 5 minutes looking for it. Between this and another toy, I keep tracking where the pieces have gone.
