My 18 month old daughter seems to love this toy, has been playing with it for a while which is great. The only thing I didn't like was that when I opened the package it smelled like spray paint and the pieces stuck together and I had to take them apart. I bought this for my little one when he was about 17 months old. He loves to. He immediately understood the main purpose of laying wooden panels by color. Once he did that, he started playing with it more creatively, swapping colors or layering duplos on top. The label has plenty of other ways to play with it, too. For such a low price, it's surprisingly versatile. Great outdoor toy. Like all Melissa and Doug toys, the wood isn't an heirloom, but it doesn't have to be. I believe it will survive

This is definitely the best toy to play with when someone else can play with the baby. But the kids love it! The pieces are big enough not to choke on and there are many things you can teach a child by using it.
