This works for INSERT (do not squeeze) AND REMOVE (push back to create a vacuum, then squeeze (only) to release the lens) much better than expected. Adding a picture because in previous reviews it seems like there was an inconsistency where the product was delivered The product I received on 12/2019 is vented as shown in the picture SIZE: This flask is smaller than my doctor's "insertion piston" and larger than my doctor's orange "removal piston". I have scleral lenses (large rigid lenses) and the doctor provided 2 separate "pistons" - a larger vented one for insertion and a smaller one unvented for removal It takes a bit of practice to properly activate the suction for removing the lens with this DMV, but overall i the functionality is better. Just squeeze to release the suction! My "collection plunger" from the doctor was not "vented" so I had to squeeze the tiny sides to release the lens. This is "vented" so that the lens is gently released when pressed. (This is especially good when your aim isn't accurate enough to get the lens out of your eye!, which is even harder when visibility is poor! car, work, etc.) with extra solution, containers, saline, spare goggles, and so on, but now I also use one of these as an everyday plunger tool.
