Review on Sony PS-LX250H Automatic Belt-Drive Turntable (No Longer Manufactured) by Paul Bijeaux

Revainrating 2 out of 5

Worked well for 2 years

This player was easy to set up and has worked great for 2 years. Now when I turn it on, the tonearm rises from rest, moves toward the platter, lowers, then immediately rises and returns to rest, then rises and repeats the same action over and over again until it finally decides: Play record or turn off. There is no way to turn it off unless I unplug it. Even if I press the "Stop" button, it keeps running as mentioned. I wasn't expecting a lot of features for the $80 it cost me, which is fine because all I wanted was a basic player, but I really expected it to last much longer than 2 years. If this turntable still worked perfectly I would give it a 5. But only for 2 years if I always touch it with baby gloves? No, I won't buy any more. To update this one I simply unplugged it by removing the aluminum plate and strap. I shook it a bit, then reassembled it and now it seems to be working fine! Find out! On another update, this simple fix took 2 days. I finally threw it away! Don't buy any more, that's rubbish.
