A good player for casual listeners.

First of all, this is the same player as the Audio Technica AT-PL50, so if you want to save some money you should buy it. The good thing is you can use the ANT3600L stylus in a Sony turntable just in case you need to replace it and of course this is a plain turntable so it has a fixed cartridge and no weight or anti -Skating attitude. Otherwise, it's a good player for casual listeners. I'm not giving it 5 stars because this turntable has a tendency to skip if the record isn't in perfect…

Worked well for 2 years

This player was easy to set up and has worked great for 2 years. Now when I turn it on, the tonearm rises from rest, moves toward the platter, lowers, then immediately rises and returns to rest, then rises and repeats the same action over and over again until it finally decides: Play record or turn off. There is no way to turn it off unless I unplug it. Even if I press the "Stop" button, it keeps running as mentioned. I wasn't expecting a lot of features for the $80 it cost me, which is fine…

Great table for a great price.

I bought this player to replace my 5 in 1 stereo and wish I had bought it sooner. The device was well packaged and arrived in a short time. It only took me 3 minutes to assemble the plate and attach the strap to which the taped tape was a nice touch. This will ensure you receive a fresh strap that has not been stretched in transit. I don't mind the plastic construction as much as I put mine on top of the receiver and don't want the extra weight. The table seems to isolate external vibrations…

Great value for money

About three years ago I discovered how easy it was to burn vinyl records onto CDs using a computer. I found an old Sony PS-LX150H at a thrift store and my $3 investment lasted just over two years. Impressed enough with the old model's performance to find a new model, I recently bought a Sony PS-LX250H. This player is ideal for capturing recordings on a computer. I've never heard vinyl records played on high-end turntables that cost $250 or more, but I feel that the sound quality reproduced by…

Happy to spin again

I have owned two turntables in 40 years including a quality Pioneer with top quality Shure cartridges and a Mitsubishi "linear" which I bought as a spare at the end of the vinyl era. Mitsubishi was adequate but collapsed 6 months ago leaving me with nothing. I only listen to classical music/opera. "iPod-whatever" isn't good for the long, old (1950s-1980s) classic recordings, which I prefer. I had already recorded most of my vinyl on a professional cassette but still needed a turntable. Having…

You get what you pay for

I bought it in December 2010, it's now May 2012 and I don't have a gramophone. I wanted a turntable that could play my Dylan vinyl collection. It didn't have to be fancy, it just had to play records with as little distortion as possible. In the past I've had good luck (knock on wood) with Sony products. I bought this item because (or what I thought) it was the best deal for the least amount of money. All was good out of the box, albeit limited. I played albums on it a few times a month if at…

Pros
  • Nice packaging
Cons
  • I don't have much to complain about, everything is fine

Yes it works! After a little fuss.

Picked up my order in the post today, brought it home and unpacked it and would like to share some thoughts on my first experience. Some assembly is required first. The output is this: if you're connecting to a system with PHONO inputs turn the EQ switch off, if you're connecting to the AUX inputs (which most people probably will be) turn the EQ on -switch on. It is necessary to install a cast aluminum pulley and pull the drive belt over the drive spindle. And then throw it on a rubber mat on…

Pros
  • Sturdy construction

  • Some difficulties
