I'm sure the intentions of the designers were positive, but like most things designed for the human anatomy, we weren't all created equal (thank goodness). I did some research on copper plated products and was disappointed to learn that copper doesn't fix anything. Copper (Cu) is a chemical element that can block pain receptors in the human body. I'm pretty sure the goal was to line up the finger straightener with the closest straight finger. That's true in my situation, but I didn't want to put up with any more complaints after so many years, because without the device I don't have any pain. In addition (as of 2018) there is no known method for correcting hammer toes. Surgery is very painful and only 13-20% are successful, according to two dermatologists and podiatrists I have visited and two surgeons who are personal friends of mine.
