Review on Ortofon OM Pro S Single Pack: High-Quality DJ Cartridge with Stylus Included by Michael Norwood

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Great sound and doesn't jump when scratching.

So I just started DJing with turntables. Before that I used a DDJ-SX2 DJ controller. I received two Gemini PT 2000 mk2 turntables which are essentially clones of the Technics 1200. Anyway when I first got them they had some broken needles so I replaced them with two new sets of Numark CC-1 carriages and pins I bought here. Well, when you try to scratch on the turntables, the needles jump like crazy. Sometimes it would be better than others, but I can say with confidence that the CC-1 falls short no matter how carefully you calibrate it. I've searched the internet for "best DJ carts for scratching" and found this to be one of the best options. I decided to buy one to try and I can safely say they are great for scratching. I can scratch my 7" scratch vinyl as well as my 7" control vinyl without skipping needles. It can skip if I'm too vigorous and shake the platter/tonearm too much, but if I use proper technique it stays firm. Even if you mute the audio and pull back the vinyl, it stays in the groove. This is a great cart and stylus combo and I can't believe how cheap it is. It's $20 cheaper than the Numark CC-1 and offers better performance. If you're looking for a new cart and don't want to spend nearly $300 on a Shure M447, this is a win-win. Sounds great and acts like a champ. 5 stars all round.
