I'm just not a fan of greasy, greasy diaper area balms. I prefer a thick white cream or ointment with lots of zinc. Unlike jars sold in most ointments and balms, this one comes in a convenient squeeze tube. It comes out easily even though it's quite thick. It feels a bit grainy but seems to melt and smooth out well. It comes out clear and has an all natural herbal flavor but not my favorite. Honestly, it smells like hay and maple syrup! I thought it smelled like fenugreek. but I don't see it in the ingredients. It definitely has an "oily" smell. It won't help cure a stubborn rash once it's started, but *might* help protect against it. It moisturizes a lot and makes his skin very soft. Honestly, the best way to prevent and treat diaper rash is to use a zinc-based cream (we swear by Burt's Bees Diaper Rash Ointment, which is 40% zinc). I've used it daily (rash or not) and my son hasn't had a bad diaper rash in over 20 months! Whenever I use a greasy balm like this on a diaper rash that has already started, his "pimples" burst into bleeding blisters. I think if balms and ointments like Aquaphor or Vaseline have worked for you in the past, this would be an alternative to that. I just can't get rid of the smell. My baby smells like pancakes and barnyard. 😅 UPDATE: My son is teething and he's in very sour diapers right now. After applying this to a very messy discharge, his skin was very red and irritated. It didn't do anything about it. Hope that helps!
