Great house frame carpentry machine

For a home framing machine this nailer is a pretty good option when joining bevels. The operation is quite simple, and if you pay attention to the details, the nails drive in quite cleanly. The magnetic plunger is also very useful for nail positioning. You may find that it takes a little practice to ensure your nails are driven fully into the wood, but once you get the hang of it it should be easy. However, the size of the machine is somewhat limiting. A 45 degree clamp will hold a workpiece up to 4 inches wide, but cannot effectively accommodate the size of a larger frame. In my experience, the largest frame I can glue with this nailer is about 16 x 20. Anything larger will fit, but gets a bit unwieldy on a small base, even with the spacers provided. Of course, this size fits most framing work, so it's not that bad after all. The construction seems mediocre: not very fragile, but not overly strong as you would expect from something like this. I wish the base was a little heavier, but all the mechanical parts gave me no problems. Be careful with the corner clamp, though. If your joints aren't perfect, over-tightening the clamp can push them apart a little when you fasten them together. All in all it works for under $100 and great for my home shop.

Pros
  • Decent performance
Cons
  • Miscellaneous Miscellaneous

Love love love it. Paid back first show. Made 18 frames with little to no problems for a beginner
