and better and more detailed ones are probably available from others with the .

Check out my review of the Vanguard Abeo Plus carbon fiber tripod for a quick look at the Desmond DLOW-55mm ball head. However, this ballhead deserves more than a cursory review and there are probably better and deeper reviews out there that others with more field experience than me have. Having said that, I have to say that I've always admired a 55mm ball head from an American company, but couldn't sacrifice more than $500 for the purchase price. So when I came across this Made in China clone, I bought it unpatriotically. So far I haven't regretted anything except the unpatriotic part. Here's the thing: I get a lot of things made in China that I couldn't afford, and I'm always (well, almost always) impressed with their quality. I must confess that I am at least partially responsible for this, having greatly helped a young Chinese student in a machine shop course in Fresno around 1978, and little did I know at the time that I was contributing to the decline of American supremacy in quality and Marketing. Please forgive me. However, I have two Chinese-made guitars that are mostly flawless in their construction and performance, so I may have justified my earlier stupidity. Unless, of course, a Chinese student was engaged in machine tools and tooling for my Chinese-made guitars. Well, there's just no way to win. The ball head with a diameter of 55 mm is therefore convincing in every respect. Handling is top notch and I think it would suit anyone who needs a large, lightweight ball head to complement a large, lightweight tripod like the Vanguard Abeo, which I bought for the same ball head.
