Review on BTECH UV 25X4 Tri Band Mobile Radio by Philip Latham

Revainrating 5 out of 5

The second time I order "Charm ".

The main delivery of my repeat order was fast again. This time I got a new radio that worked great. This is a real sentinel and works better than my UV-2501+220. Bravo !-----------Prime delivery was fast as usual. However, the item received was previously returned. The microphone and radio were not, as is usually the case, in protective plastic bags in the box. There was also no peeling of the protective plastic on the front of the LCD. The serial number marking on the metal sticker on the underside of the radio case was worn to the point of being unreadable. After some quick testing we found out why this product bought as "new" was returned by the previous owner: while the 2m band and 440 band carry 18-20W signal, the 220 band only delivers 4- 5W (all set to high power). So unfortunately I am returning this unit for a refund. I am already the proud owner of a previous generation UV-2501+220 which puts out the same average 18 watts on 220 bands as on 2m and 440 bands. As a realist, I don't really expect radios like this to put out more than 25 watts, but I need more output consistency across the range. I want to use another UV-25X4 in my car, but I want to be the first owner of the next one I buy and not buy someone's problem child.

Pros
  • Hands-free operation
Cons
  • Some small things
