Description of BTECH UV 25X4 Tri Band Mobile Radio

What Makes the UV-25X4 Unique: Dual Synchronize Display Mode, Mic Audio Gain Settings, In depth user's guide, Auto Power Off Function, Channel Mode Editing Settings, Auto Scan, Scanning Resume, and Variable Frequency Scanning, Quad Watch Delay Time, Randomization Privacy Mode, Builds upon previous generation UV-2501+220. High / Low Power Settings (25W/10W); Frequency Range: 144-148MHz (VHF), 222-225MHz (1.25M), 420-450MHz (UHF); Broad (Wide) / Narrowband (Narrow) Selectable. Recommended Accessories: Pair UV-25X4 with the Nagoya TB-320A Antenna (and RB-50 Magnetic Mount) for easy installation. The PC04 FTDI Cable is recommended for easy computer programming. Dual Watch monitoring VHF/UHF and 220Mhz: The 220 MHz band antenna lowpass filter is switched with a relay and the 2 meter lowpass filter and 70 cm highpass filters are switched with PIN diodes - resulting in a audible relay switch noise when monitoring 220MHz with VHF/UHF simultaneously. A relay that completely isolated the 220 MHz RF filter won't impact the RF performance of the 2 meter/70 cm bands. If monitoring multiple 220MHz or VHF/UHF simultaneously the relay is not heard or used. Tribander Mobile Radio Kit Includes: BTECH UV-25X4, Speaker Mic, 6 foot DC Cable with Cigarette Plug Connector, Radio & Mic Brackets, Mounting Hardware, and User Guide.

Good radio but there are problems with RFI.

Like this radio, I use it in the car and at home. But besides the annoying ticking relay when scanning over 220, it has another annoying bug that can be fixed. I just discovered the problem myself. When powered by the same power source as my HF setup (Yaesu FT-857D), I hear its on/off sound effects which are a bit distorted, like in the receiver of my HF setup. You may also hear the scan clock ticking in the setup's HF receiver, as well as semi-distorted audio in the HF setup of the received…

The second time I order "Charm ".

The main delivery of my repeat order was fast again. This time I got a new radio that worked great. This is a real sentinel and works better than my UV-2501+220. Bravo !-----------Prime delivery was fast as usual. However, the item received was previously returned. The microphone and radio were not, as is usually the case, in protective plastic bags in the box. There was also no peeling of the protective plastic on the front of the LCD. The serial number marking on the metal sticker on the…

Simple or mobile, this is the one!

This little radio is a real gem. I'm using a cheap power supply I bought from Revain to power up to 13.6VDC. This is my base station, although I built an AC to cigarette lighter power converter for home use. I wanted a portable ham radio but didn't want to run the battery cable into the cabin (I'm not that committed!). With a cheap Revain power adapter and a cigarette lighter adapter that I put in a small plastic tool box, this guy is perfect for my needs. I can use it at home and get a very…

Cons
  • Quick guide

There are so many things I love about this radio. Size and performance were top notch. The super small size meant I could easily turn it into a lunch box. Excellent screen with large fonts and good contrast. Paired channels so I can see the name and frequency together is great. The microphone controls were pretty easy to see and use. I had no problem hitting repeaters from a distance and always got clear signal reports from others. After getting the original FTDI programming cable, programming…

Your best bet for 1.25m

I haven't had any problems with this radio that others have but I use it a little differently. 2m/70cm, UV-25X4 is used exclusively for 1.25m with single tape 5/8 wave whip. There aren't many options for 1.25M other than HT and I was happy to find the UV-25X4. It was installed as shown in the attached image. I screwed the bracket to the aluminum plate and put the plate in a pocket behind the passenger seat, routing the power cord to the cigarette lighter. That means I can't see the display…
