My grandson has wanted one since he saw it in Ryan's World. I thought it would be great fun to take care of the day while sitting with them. The police/fire station consists of two parts. Cardboard is a thicker material and has folding flaps and clasps. Box closes by itself, different closures, etc. I installed the box myself, but of course it would be easier with two adults. It's not difficult, it's just that the pieces are so big it would be easier to have another pair of hands to hold the cardboard, fold the areas and tuck in the tabs. Ribbon was not needed. Duct tape may be needed over time, but that probably also depends on how rough the kids are with it. Once the cardboard house is built, it's time to knock out the doors and windows. All this does not come out, but just enough for the doors and windows to open and close. The exterior of the house is white with bold black lines. There are many areas to color and none of them should be the default color. We ended up making our Fire Escape Rainbow and our Dalmatian Red. I just think kids can be creative and really do whatever they want. The cardboard is very thick and hard. However, I liked that markers and felt-tip pens worked best. They have a good amount of ink and are easier to color. I thought that if we had multiple children, we would have to put each child on a side. In the end, however, the children actually worked together. It didn't happen right away, but it worked out fine. On the one hand, it seems like you have to spend a lot of money for a box of cardboard cutouts. However, the kids really had a lot of fun with it and enjoyed coloring it. We didn't finish ours in one sitting. In any case, several art events and art days will emerge from this one event. Of course I know that it depends on the child. The children also showed a lot of creativity as police officers and firefighters.
