This ointment is not what I thought. It is thick like paste and blue in color. This causes stains on the fabric/fur that can only be removed by a bath. Instead, I use very warm (not hot) water and a small amount of this substance. I stir vigorously for a few minutes (be patient, this takes time). Even after thorough mixing, small blue pieces are still present. Take a paper coffee filter (or paper towel) and place it on top of the mug. Pour the mixed solution onto a filter paper or paper towel. This leaves the blue bits that won't dissolve, so they won't stain your pet's coat. Throw away the filter, take a cotton swab and dip it in the diluted solution to apply to your pet. Yes, this will dissolve it and make it less effective than if you simply applied the paste directly, but it will still aid in the healing process without turning your pet's coat blue.
