It needs to be plugged in to work, the installation guide was difficult to understand at first and it took several attempts to connect. The only option we set up was to also use an ethernet cable straight to the router in the house. Even when we installed the app on the phone, it didn't connect at first. After several tries we finally got it plugged in and then we were able to set it up on the phone without an ethernet cable and it worked, but a power plug isn't what we need so we'll be looking at another type. . If you don't have a wired doorbell, this might be what you need. The picture is of pretty good quality.
