This set is amazing! The box it comes in is sturdy (very easy to wrap if you're thinking of gifts) and everything inside is very nicely wrapped in labeled bags. The wood pieces are pre-painted and fit together easily - while you can use wood glue, I find superglue just as good and a lot faster. It's also handy to have PVA glue for the pieces of paper, and I recommend good sharp scissors and an X-Acto knife for cutting pieces of paper. You may also need a straight edge. It comes with both a lighting system and a music box, neither of which are very difficult to install. The lights require two AAA batteries but everything else is included and very well explained in the instructions. It also comes with plexiglass cut to the right size for the dust cover and if you decide to glue everything it's good to know that the music box and battery compartment are on the outside of the cover and therefore easily operated can be unnecessarily. remove the cover. (I've built kits before that haven't done this, so I appreciate that attention to detail.) Speaking of details, I also appreciate that the instructions come with a full-color, fully-illustrated parts list. The manual itself is illustrated in detail and easy to understand. There are a lot of very small pieces in the set so I wouldn't recommend it for very young children, but older children can easily handle most of the set with guidance and help. (Teens will be fine, don't worry.) I love these sets, they are so much fun and well put together. Have you ever bought a board game and just enjoyed opening it for the first time and being able to pull out all the pieces and build everything the first time? That's it, only more. Satisfying, fun and highly recommended!
