I had trouble setting it up on my Pixel phone at first. I went through two full detection cycles but the android app couldn't find the light. On a whim I restarted my phone, ran the detection loop again and the lights were quickly found. There is a wide range of different lighting effects and animations to choose from. Color customization is pretty easy. The ability to change the animation speed is very handy for avoiding the "strobing" effect you see from other lights running too fast and looking awkward. In the end I settled on the "snow" effect with blue light and reduced speed. I only have one set, so I can't talk about the ability to coordinate effects across multiple strands. For me these lights here can go from just good to great. So after spending $180 on this set I'm a little blown away. Next year I plan to put up another set or two and maybe it would be worth having three rows of synced icicle lights.
