We've found a functional solution to a design problem with a piece that everyone is complaining about, forefoot/upper foot hurts at the ankle because it's too long. It was a little scary cutting that extra length off the first shoe, but the leather repair kit we had for the upholstery did the job perfectly! (We needed the shoes for the next day trip and didn't have time to find anything else.) But they've walked about 50 miles across Europe with this fit, no problem! We've cropped just below the rubberized Keen logo.
