Review on Highly Efficient Bernette 35 Swiss Design Sewing Machine - Perfect for All Sewing Needs by Amber Perez

Great machine at a great price

I don't usually bother to look through things, but since I couldn't find many reviews on this sewing machine before buying it, I felt like I had one small would take leap of faith! Luckily I like my new car. I've been sewing on my mother's 1971 Bernina Bernette for many years and it still runs like a champ but there are a lot of things it can't do compared to newer machines. Ideally I'd shell out $1200 for a new Bernina model, but it's out of my budget. Although this Bernette machine is not technically a Bernina, its quality is controlled by Bernina. I love that it is a fully mechanical machine that is easy to maintain and requires no software updates. It feels solid without weighing a ton, isn't too noisy when sewing, and comes with easy instructions on how to use its many stitches. I sew a lot of clothes and they have all the functions I need. It has a great stretch stitch for sewing knitwear, the auto buttonhole took me a bit of time but it works well - I'd say the buttonholes come out a little more than they should, but you don't have to open it. All the Way. It comes with a hem foot which is best for 1/4 hems on ruffles, scarves, etc. And the zipper foot works well, although different from what I'm used to. It comes with 5 plastic spools, but universal spools also work. The only downsides I've found so far are that it makes a louder noise when sewing multiple layers of thick fabric, but does so without hesitation, and it's difficult to find extra feet and accessories that come with the machine. online but it has everything I can use in the near future. and it is difficult to find additional feet and accessories that come with the machine. online but it has everything I can use in the near future. and it is difficult to find additional feet and accessories that come with the machine. online but it has everything I can use in the near future.
