This item worked on several ears of corn and then one of the rivets came loose. I continued to use it carefully and eventually another rivet broke off one of the blades rendering it unusable. It came from a kid raised by one of my parents in the corn belt and it worked flawlessly, but in today's world things aren't made the way they used to be. It takes a lot of reinforcement in the blade area to cut through the toughest corn on the cob. I ordered this for temporary use only and that's pretty much what I received.
