Review on TOYOTA Cabin Air Filter Replacement - TYC 800005P by Tom Reasons

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Extremely easy maintenance that works great!

Vehicle: I installed this air filter (TYC 800005P) on a 2006 Toyota Prius. Installation: It was very, very easy and quick. It literally takes two minutes once you get used to it. When are you new? Just ten minutes. I'm speaking from experience as this is the first time I've installed this thing. On my own car, to change the cabin filter, all I have to do is open the glove box, pull out the "damper" (a small bracket that attaches to the storage box and holds it in place) on the right side, and push both sides of the storage box to make it come out, and you will see the cabin air filter just behind the glove box. Once you see it, simply squeeze the filter housing on both sides, pull out and place in your new cabin. air filter, then slide the filter housing back. After that, push both sides of the glove box to bring it back, reattach the damper, and you're done! The above is so long because I wanted to be specific. It's actually a three-step process: pull out the glove box, pull out the filter housing to replace the air filter, and then put everything back together. Buy a car to do it yourself. My dealer charged $50 for finding an incredibly simple procedure. As we can see at Revain, the air filter is only $8, so $42 of that amount is just labor. No thank you. It's cheaper, faster, and admittedly nice to have your own car serviced by someone who doesn't normally service my car.

Pros
