Review on Mikrotik CCR1072 Router 1072 1G 8S 72 Cores by Carlos Chan

the world of pain No support, poor performance, waste of time and money.

I have three 1072s, they are almost good for speeds up to 2Gbps but don't work very well with L3 packet forwarding unless you use Fasttrack which eliminates queuing and shaping. Two servers with two 1072 between them on original LR MT optics 15 meters apart did not exceed 4.5 Gbps when forwarding packets unless a specific CPU core was busy. I was only able to push 9.9 Gbps, including 9000 MTU jumbo frames everywhere and of course the Fasttrack connection, otherwise it would have been a whopping 800 Mbit/s. +31DLC10D transceiver and various SMF patch cords. It even triggers FCS on Intel SR modules with perfect Tripp-Lite. Whenever I run the BWtest function on one port channel, it immediately results in hundreds of retransmissions on another port pair. My emails to MikroTik support in Latvia are answered within a few business days. Delay. Often they didn't answer my question at all with the most detailed evidence. They seek help from vendors who don't know about L3 forwarding and don't respond and consultants who ask for 10 hour packages of $300 upfront = $3000 to play if they can help and by me discuss a problem with them, I don't do it. feel like they know more than I do or have a lab to test their assumptions. Another New York consultant asked me to log into my $360 product to optimize it, and when I asked if he had a lab to test his assumptions, he stopped responding. IPSec speed - results of their tests. The specs page advertises 1280Mbps per link, but under ideal conditions of two idle 1072s connected together, I couldn't get more than 300Mbps while the tunnel shows hardware offload, and of course I've checked the " Try Firewall - Raw Help. In fact, over an IP link, I can speed up transmission by 2 Gbps (my provider's connection speed), but IPSec doesn't exceed 200 Mbps. Some people recommend trying it on PC, not sure if I want more adventures.
