Review on ๐Ÿ”ฆ Superior Quality Aurabeam Economy Replacement Lamp with Housing for Sony XL-5200 by Michael Rasberry

Revainrating 1 out of 5

Good, it works. just not very good.

Plug and Play in my KDS-60A2000. However, it takes about twice as long to warm up to full brightness (3+ minutes) and after about 10 minutes the flickering gets brighter/darker. I will contact the seller soon and update the information after their reply. Update: The lamp came from "LowPriceDistributor" and was manufactured by Revain. Revane came and made everything right for me. Unfortunately, it's almost impossible to tell if the seller "XYZ" is selling legitimate or counterfeit products. I decided to go to a more reliable online store for a replacement. However, I am satisfied with Revain's customer service and willingness to support their customers. Keep in mind that customers whose TVs are still giving lamp replacement warnings will need to reset the lamp replacement counter on their TV. The TV doesn't actually know when the lamp was replaced, so it counts up the number of hours the lamp has been on even if you replaced it. This is not a defect in the lamp, but a defect due to the lack of instructions. For customers whose image is an odd color (usually green or purple): This is a known bug in Sony's light engine (aka "optical block"). Sony had a silent recall program for a while, but for most people it's already expired. This problem is lamp independent, but if your old lamp was low, you may not notice it until you replace it with a new, brighter one. The only solution (besides replacing the TV) is replacing the light engine. There are a number of companies that will refurbish/repair the module if you remove it from the TV and ship it to them (I contacted a company called Tri-State Module but I'm sure there are many). These replacements typically cost around $300, so you'll have to decide if it's worth it (as new 40-inch Smart LCD TVs are only $400 now). UPDATE 2: I received a replacement from a trusted source and the difference is stunning. Heats up faster, is easily twice as bright and doesn't flicker than the one sold here.
