Until now, lamps have either had to compromise on light quality or energy consumption. Halogen bulbs dim beautifully and produce a wonderful, deep, warm glow on low settings. Unfortunately they are extremely inefficient, up to 100 watts per bulb. The LEDs only draw a few watts each, but they dim terribly, producing the same whitish-blue light down to low levels that look unnatural on most settings. This has been our choice so far. Phillips Warm Glow lamps are a game changer. You get the best of both worlds: great warm dimming + LED efficiency and lifespan. We have about 80 warm incandescent lamps of all types and sizes installed in our house. These 12 volt bulbs are the only ones not sold in the US. in big hardware stores, so we ordered a few dozen here. During installation we put in a couple of lightbulbs while our old halogen bulbs were still running side by side. It was an amazing comparison. From full brightness to almost the lowest dimming level, Warm Glow lamps were indistinguishable from halogen lamps. You only see a small difference in the last, lowest settings, which is only noticeable in a direct comparison. All of these lamps worked flawlessly with our Lutron Caseta (smart) dimmers. Almost a decade after LEDs became available, we *finally* have a no-compromise version that does everything we want in an efficient lamp. It is worth noting that these lamps also have almost no hum. Thanks Phillips PS If you're reading now, consider extending this technology to additional form factors, specifically 120V and 12V pendant lights with G5.3 bases.
