Review on πŸ–₯️ Enhanced ViewSonic VA903B 19 Inch LCD Monitor with 1280X1024 Resolution by Keith Twitchell

Revainrating 2 out of 5

decent but not great

This is my first LCD monitor and I wasn't impressed (although going from 17" to 19" is certainly better). I bought it from Fry's Electronics for [.] (before [.] postage discount) but it's being returned. Forget gaming with this monitor - if you want all black/dark areas, the natural "dark gray highlights" will be VERY distracting. No amount of contrast, brightness and/or gamma adjustment helps either. White bleeding at top edge doesn't help I don't know if 300cd/m2 brightness is good but I think the higher the better of 0.294mm has anything to do with 15 second auto reset error No power consumption as bad Excuse for the manual (3 pages in each language - unnecessarily bloated quick start guide) or PDF version (which strangely says Power Saving mode with device off <1W)... but only "Normal" to think about it. ) Watts aren't even listed on the back of the monitor! The PDF manual specs also don't mention the most basic LCD specs: refresh rate, brightness (cd/m2) and contrast ratio - lame. ViewSonic clearly needs to learn to be more thorough. Viewing angles aren't great - you have to be in the center of the screen or parts of the screen will dim (especially the top). For now I'm sticking with my CRT until LCDs are at least as good in terms of full black pixels and odd resolution handling (multi-sync I think - although I know some LCDs have this, so maybe they're better).

Pros
  • still working almost after 3 years...received on time and exactly what I wanted
Cons
  • makes me angry
