We use them as beginner lacrosse balls. They don't bounce as much as lacrosse or tennis balls and are heavier than tennis balls, but they aren't as hard as lacrosse balls. Kids don't have to worry about hitting a hard lacrosse ball in the face (a common early fear). Also, they don't roll. This way you can just go off to drop the ball on the street for a few minutes without chasing the ball and losing it in the ditch.
