Review on Portable Artistry: Discover the Art Alternatives Pocket Charcoal Set by Heather Shaw

It's charcoal, not porcelain

I may have been lucky, but my can of charcoal arrived undamaged. They may have improved their packaging methods. Note, however, that charcoal can be used in different sizes. So if your parts are broken, it doesn't matter. Just use it anyway. In fact, people pay for cans of pulverized coal. It can be applied with a brush for subtle effects. If you drop a piece of charcoal on the kitchen floor about a few feet from a table, it will break. Take it, blow off the cat hair and get back to work. Colored pencils, on the other hand, can be damaged if they fall. If the lead breaks in the wood, it becomes very difficult to sharpen because the tip keeps breaking off. I have given up colored pencils as my usual artistic medium. Anywhere you work with charcoal, it's definitely a good idea to cover the ground with newspaper to catch any dust that falls while you work. It is also advisable to wear an old shirt and a special apron. A beautiful work can be created with charcoal. So send out your inner critic and find your inner artist. And the best advice I've ever received is this: never compare your work to the work of others.

Pros
  • I'm fine
Cons
  • No instructions
