I wanted to protect my expensive mattress from accidents. I've read reviews of many waterproof mattress pads. Invariably, some have reported experiencing leaks. The Dreamaway Waterproof Mattress Pad surprised me because it's a padding with a waterproof barrier on the bottom. I know my 100% polyester socks absorb a lot of water when washed, so the 100% polyester filling should do the job. But just in case, I bought a Newpoint Terry waterproof mattress pad to put on top of it - for $14, how could I be wrong. It is essentially a sheet with an attached waterproof barrier. While I believe this will prevent moisture from entering the mattress if it does eventually leak, the Dreamaway will soak up anything that seeps out. So I created a sandwich with a barrier above and below the absorbent pad. Now I am sure that my mattress is fully protected.
