The adhesive didn't work so well for me, so I had to screw these all in. That's okay - my cats are kind of rough with things so I'm not sure that would have worked out long term anyway. It took a really long time for my cats to warm up to these. They completely ignored them for probably 6 months. I tried catnip and showing them where to find them and running my fingers on the nubs with no luck. And then one day they decided these were worth a look and now they enjoy rubbing on them and grooming themselves. Seems like they enjoy the feel of them. Removing the top part is easy. Not sure how easy it will be to remove the whole thing. But overall I'd say they're pretty good.
