Spend more to get a better gate
I hate this gate so much. There are many bumps in our home which makes these gates difficult to "bolt up" or mount to the wall/door. My son is quite strong and has knocked over this gate several times. I have a feeling that when we take it off to go in and out of a room it becomes more and more difficult to put it back on. It is also difficult to open the gate with one hand. Not only is my son strong, he's fast and it's taking me ages to come to terms with that. I wish I had spent the extra money to buy a better span swing gate. I originally intended to use it as a swing but didn't like screwing the hardware into our fixtures/walls/doors. Much better like the Summer Infant version.
