Review on πŸ’¦ WAYNE PC4.5 1/2 HP Cast Iron Multi-Purpose Pump With Suction Strainer, Model 55832 by Reginald Sealy

Handy little device

It is important to understand what you are buying here. The device is about the size of a hotel coffee maker, and the sound of the motor (inside the cast-iron housing) is similar to that of a kitchen blender or sewing machine. This should give you an idea of its suction power. It lived up to expectations for the job I had in mind, pumping several thousand gallons of water out of the pool. The pump was about 3.5 to 4 feet above the suction point and sucked and pumped water very well (to a discharge point 10 feet below the deck surface where the pump was located). For vacuuming, I used a heavy-duty garden hose that was 25 feet long and sold at Ace Hardware for about $25. The hose was strong enough for the suction generated by the pump. The flow was steady but not very fast, but it was good for the task at hand. The pump allowed me to passively drain the water with the engine off to give it some rest while I worked. It appeared to be able (as others have noted) to run for hours. A pumping speed of around 1000 gallons per hour seems about right Think about your job and think carefully about how much water you have and how fast and how high you need to pump the water. If you need to move a lot you can use a gas pump, but for smaller jobs this is it a great tool
