Review on ARC Welder 165A Inverter MMA Welder Machine: Portable Stick Welding with Digital Display, Hot Start, and Dual Voltage Capability by Rick Alexander

Had high hopes. I should have known better.

I had high hopes for this welder. But I should have known from bitter experience rather than hoping for anything. I bought this welder and after about 2 months, of course after the return window closed, it stopped working. It just turned off after trying to start the arc and never turned on again. I was looking for warranty information on the product page here at Revain which directed me to the company's website. So I did and was encouraged to see that Stahlwerk offers a 5-7 year warranty on their products! So I contacted the company and. No Answer. I carefully read the fine print of the warranty card on the website and even if they did reply and said they would be happy to fix it for me, I would have to pay for shipping to Germany and then shipping back. I don't want to send a welder on a fabulous vacation around the world and back just to solve a problem I shouldn't have had in the first place. If you're talking about a welder that only costs $90, it's likely that the cost of round-trip shipping will be close to that cost. Not to mention I'll probably have to buy some calendars to time the time it takes to get it back. So let's summarize. I am not suprised.

Pros
  • Pure copper core cable, stable output current, long-distance transmission loss, high efficiency.
Cons
  • A small change
