I ordered a size 5 based on another reviewer who said they run small but I felt it was still too big for our son who normally wears a size 4. He likes to wear loose shoes, so he still walks in these boots. The advantage is that since they are larger on him, they are easy to put on and take off. So I would say they are true. So far, with January temperatures hovering around teenagers during the day, they've kept his feet and toes pretty warm, and they've got a fleece lining on the inside. Also appears to be waterproof.
