MakeBlock mBot is a really great product. What a wonderful early introduction to robotics and programming. The instructions were clear. Our 9 year old mostly assembled it by himself. Our 7 year old assembled it with help and guidance. Both were passionate about what they were doing. The robot can be used with the remote control directly after assembly. It can also be coded and used with Bluetooth technology via a smartphone or tablet. I have two doubts about the product. First, it would be nice if the batteries needed were more clearly marked in the list. This requires 4 AA batteries (which most people have on hand) plus a 3.7V 1800mAh lithium battery, which isn't usually easy to find at home or at the local store. We were able to find a workaround with the battery that we had on hand after visiting a few of our local stores to no avail. Second, and more importantly, we have two children and ordered two sets - blue and pink. Unfortunately, the remote controls work on the same frequency and it is impossible to change them. It seems like just adding a fix for it would be enough and hopefully the creators will take that into account in future releases. Those issues aside, I highly recommend this product.
