Review on Canon EF 50mm f/1.8 II Fixed Lens - Discontinued by Manufacturer by Shimamoto Tatsuki ᠌

Revainrating 5 out of 5

The best thing Ive ever used, a great item for everyone!

I have already the second fifty kopecks in the last six years. I took both without zeroing in on targets and there were no complaints about the quality of both copies. Yes, the lens is not very "colorful", but it is sharp as a razor and absolutely predictable in terms of the shooting result. 50mm on a crop is not universal, but, nevertheless, this lens is worth it as a staff member. Half-length portraits, a narrow landscape, a subject matter are excellent. I highly recommend this lens to all novice photographers to understand what a fix is. Undoubtedly, there are glasses much better, but not for $100. Definitely take!

Pros
  • Aperture, sharpness, light weight, quite nice picture on the open aperture. Ridiculous price. Prevalence in the secondary market: easy to find and just as easy to sell if you don’t like it.
Cons
  • On some (not all) carcasses it can be soft at f / 1.8 - not everyone likes it and is not always appropriate. The five petals make the bokeh quite "hard" at a covered aperture. Absolutely not convenient manual focus ring. Quite loud buzzing :)
