Review on Better Chef IM 709V Floor White by Jimmy Moreland

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Apparently well done.

I bought this fan to replace a similar fan I bought about 35 years ago which is starting to fail the bearings. I like metal blades which are better than plastic blades, the protection is as good as my old one and just as quiet as the old one. The noise it makes is due to air turbulence and there's little that can be done about it. What I didn't like so much was that there was a very light film of oil on the casing that I had to clean off first. The switch on this one is mounted on the back of the motor and works just like my old one, but its location is a lot less convenient. I use the fan every day and the switch is harder to see and reach. My old man has it on top. Also, the speedometers (0-LMH) are raised and built into the engine body so aren't easy to read so I'm going to paint them white to make them stand out like I did on my old one. Finally, it has a hard wire attached to the top of the guard that acts as a handle, which I found too close to the guard to use. I tweaked it a bit and now it works. I've only been using it for a week but overall it seems satisfactory and I expect it to last for many years. not mentioned in the description. I found it by accident because it exploded and the fan stopped working. The compartment is difficult to open and I had to destroy the fuse to get it - it broke in half. They're fairly cheap and available from Revain, but apparently not locally in the US. From the looks of it, manufacturers are now putting them in forks because of fan burns.

Pros
  • Very good price
Cons
  • Infinitely sluggish
