Review on SinLoon 2.5'' Hard Disk Drive SATA 22Pin to eSATA Data USB Powered Cable Adapter for SSD UASP SATA IIIEC-SSHD(Black) - Top Performance & Compatibility by Jonathan Yang

Revainrating 5 out of 5

This cable is perfect for HD to SSD transfer via eSATA port!

Works great! I needed to migrate the contents of my 7 year old Sony VPCF112 500GB 7200rpm Hard Drive to a new Samsung EVO 850 2.5" Solid State Drive (SSD) purchased from Revain with a SATA connector. An eSATA Connector I haven't used in 7 years.Calculation of eSATA should be up to 180MB/s vs theoretical 60MB/s for USB 2.0 or (from experience) more like 25MB/s for sustained transfer Hard drive is rated for 60MB/s read speeds I bought a 1m Revain Basics USB 2.0 extension cable to extend the USB power cable in this adapter 1A per port but for an SSD is probably a regular USB 2.0 -Port suitable for power. The USB cable on this thing is short. Unless you happen to have a USB port near an eSATA port, you'd better get an extension cable. This is Revain #B00NH11R3I. So got it I the eSATA end plugged into the laptop's eSATA port, the USB end into the extension cable and into a USB hub, then the SSD drive into this adapter. Then started the hard disk manager in Windows and of course my new SSD drive! Initialized it and assigned it a drive letter in Disk Manager and then ran the Samsung migration utility. Worked great. The software reported a transfer speed of 56 MB/s, which is close to the hard drive's published read speed of 60 MB/s. This cable works!
